Vantage V – new October firmware (4.0.11)

Hooray ! The wait has ended today, Polar just released the long expected October firmware update for the Vantage watch family.

It’s still too early to say how stable and what are the real benefits the firmware provides, I saw some changes in the screens and obviously some other options in the watch menus.

The default watch face (digital) with minor font changes
The new sleep screen – ready for nightly recharge data (see the colored marks)

We have a new screen, more like a shortcut menu, accessible from the various watch faces with a top-down slide on the screen (that’s on Vantage V, I would imagine that for Vantage M there is something accessible with the buttons).

The shortcuts menu – with access to Alarm Settings, DND (On/Off), Flight mode (On/Off)

Also, it’s important to mention something that was long requested – you can actually see the battery charge percentage on the watch!! That was awkward till now, you had to plug the watch in the charger to see the charge level, other than just looking at the visual clues of the battery icon.

Select the recovery measure: Recovery Pro or Nightly Recharge

There are other screens to select the Positioning satellites – you can choose between GPS + Glonass, GPS + Galileo, GPS + QZSS .. there will be still things to be discovered, but for now – I’m happy I have something new to play with.
