Issue Tracker Application Choice

OpenPoint Issue Tracker is a web-based tool designed to monitor and report progress toward resolving issues, bugs, service requests and enhancements. Issues are organized by project, subproject and category.
Could be a free alternative to Jira but .. only if your needs are covered by OpenPoint. I saw that there is a requirement for JDBC-ODBC MS Access .. so the database used is obvious ..
Maybe I’ll give it a try.. it’s free but not open-source.

  1. Liviu: Thanks for your comment about OpenPoint Issue Tracker. You are right: we chose to use MS Access as the database (because it has wide availability and was simple to package). OpenPoint is our Java-based application development platform; we used it to build Issue Tracker. Although it is not open-source, it is highly customizable. There is a free download of the platform on our web site you can play with, if you want.

I should also note that Issue Tracker Version 3.0 came out in November; it isn’t free (but isn’t expensive either), and it adds lots of functionality that our 800 or so registered users asked for.
